Finding Joy
Despite complaining earlier about how much dev work I ended up doing on the site this weekend, I still ended up doing a chunk more after the last post too. I feel very ambivalent about it, in the sense that because it's also basically my job to do web dev, I'm literally just doing my job unpaid by building this site out in a future-proofed way.
On the other hand I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't find it fun, or at the very least interesting. Learning new technologies and platforms is the fun part of development in my mind. The trick comes - as with most jobs - in how to get paid to do something fun. I think I do a good enough job, but I'm not going to lie that the low-stakes of this project are a breath of fresh air compared to the higher stakes part of some of the other systems I've been working on as of late.
I'll not get into any more details here, lest this veer into tech-blog territory, but I think I'm more set now to put some interesting features into the site this next few weeks, time permitting.
Anyway, the Warriors of Light are stood waiting for me, I guess I'd better get them back on the road/canoe!
