Final Fantasy I - The Flying Fortress

Crossing the Desert

We begin today on the edge of the desert leading to the Mirage Tower. For the first time in a little while I'm a bit trepidatious about our journey to the tower and beyond - if there's ever going to be a jump in battle difficulty, I feel like now's the time.

On the other hand, we don't really have any choice in the matter, I think it's the only quest line we have going, so if we're not doing this, what are we doing?

With that serving as motivation, we set out into the desert, heading north-west, towards the marker for the tower on our map.

The primary enemies we run into are Desert Baretta, which hit like a truck, doing over 100 damage to even Rukus. They offer good EXP, but not great, around 2500 each, but weirdly they only offer 1 gil each. I guess the hard times there explains the aggression.
