Final Fantasy I - Under The Sea

It's Still a Submarine To Me

I'd assumed it was a submarine, but walking up to it, I get asked if I want to get in the barrel. That's somehow both more mundane and more terrifying at the same time... We're getting in either way though, needs must and all that.

It floats out to sea, and swiftly descends. we emerge at 3F of the Sunken Shrine, climbing out of the barrel onto a ladder. Our first fight is with three Sharks, so I'm guessing we'll have an aquatic theme here. Like the rivers and sea, but turned up to 10 if we're underwater.

A perusal of the map shows a handful of rooms to check out, so we start with the nearest one to the east. It's got a solitary chest containing:

  • 2000 gil

Now I'm in one of the rooms, I can scout the others, and I can only see one other chest, so I make a beeline to it. It's another one containing:

  • 9900 gil

We're back on the gil-hoarding path again. It's already crept back up above 90,000 total without any grinding or conscious effort.

We're now given a choice on 3F, go up or down. Given that we're working in F rather than B, I'm guessing up is more and the end will be at the top. With that in mind, I want to try and explore this area while we're here, so down it is for us.
