The Kraken Wakes
As per the previous shrines, there's an orb - this time a blue one. As we approach it, we hear a voice
Hmph. You humans do impress... I would not have thought to see you here.
But do you really think you can defeat the Fiend of Water here in my own domain?
Fools! These dark depths shall be your tomb!
Kraken appears before us, all tentacles and bluster. I'm getting vibes of a fun character from Final Fantasy VI from his aesthetic and palette here, so I'll have to treat him with the respect he so clearly deserves.
We start with Rukus and Kaili attacking for three-figure damage each, Clair casting Protera on the party, but Glitz is the star of the show with a 421 damage Thundaga. He tries to use Ink on us, which I assume will blind and possibly slow, but we all dodge it successfully.
Second round, Clair joins the physical enslaught because everyone's still at full HP. Glitz on the other hand decides to try out Saber, to see if it'll help is magic's damage output. Kraken hits Rukus for 89 damage, which between his base Defence and Protera make me fear for the others getting hit - especially Glitz, who still only has 363 max HP.
Thundaga does 405 damage, Kaili and Clair do solid damage of 105 and 40, but then Rukus brings it and drops Kraken with a 385 damage hit out of nowhere. That ended up being quite straightforward all being told, and we're three quarters of the way there.
I decide to take the teleport out, assuming that we can explore the other way from the start by going back in. It teleports us all of the way back to the world map near Onrac, but we dash back into the barrel and down.
Back in the 3F entrance, we head towards the upstairs option here. I'm expecting at least something of a dead end, but it'll be good to know.
The 4F area has a handful of storerooms all of which have a single chest in apart from the very first one by the stairs. Heading down top to bottom, then left to right, they contain:
- Diamond Armour
- 1300 gil
- a Light Axe
- a Mage's Staff
- 12350 gil
The Diamond Armour gives Rukus a little boost from 53 Defence to 61 and Evasion up from 25% to 34%, so pretty darn good all round.
