Matoya's Cave
I head in and the labelling of the area Matoya's Cave would imply I'm in the right place, or at least the place I set out. The music in this area has a lovely woodwind line that I recognise from probably hearing it on other Final Fantasy related media, and I could listen to it for ages, but I realise I'm probably technically in a dungeon and decide to move forwards.
My first encounter is a talking broom... Sure. But it seems to give us a riddle:
Front-words, back-wards, any way you see!
Such a strange spell to swish-swish-aree!
Owt Ldna Lecnac. Swish-swish-aroo!
So I guess this is my cryptic crossword question for the day. It looks like the cryptic bit is "Cancel And L2" backwards, but I don't know the context I need to use it in yet...
I enter the door ahead to find Matoya, who appears to be in some distress. Her eye is giving her trouble - her crystal eye no less, she "can't see a blasted thing" without it. It appears it's been stolen. Other brooms in her chambers repeat the same riddle, so seeing as she's not being forthcoming with any more info and evidently can't see, I relieve her of a couple of potions and an antidote and I'm on my way.
My guess at the moment is that the sort of person who might steal a thing could be a pirate, and we were told about a town to the east, so I'm going to try and head that way. The random encounters heading east feel a little easier than those Warg Wolves, and as a town comes into view, the 3 party members who haven't yet perished reach level 8. Just in time to see where we've arrived.
