The Western Keep
Entering it, we discover we're in the western keep, a run-down looking place, with vibes of the Chaos Shrine at first glance. Once again we find talking bats, all of whom have just say "Kee! Kee!" upon opening a dialogue with them, so I guess it's related to the Marsh Cave, which is promising in a way...
There don't appear to be any encounters which is a welcome relief, so I have an explore around the area, but of the two doors to enter, one is locked with the mystic key, so I guess we have a winner for where we're supposed to go. It looks like a throne room, and upon our arrival we're greeted by... "The King"! Imposter!
Apparently we fell right into his trap he tells us, as he reveals himself to be Astos, king of the dark elves, and he transforms into what looks like his boss mode. He reveals to us that with the combined power of the crown we now hold and the crystal eye he already possesses, he will become the "TRUE elf king".
So great, I'm guessing we were supposed to come here and be tricked into recovering the crown for him, but in fact we just saved him the job of deceiving us, and went and got it on spec.
Further evidence that if we're the best hope this world has, it's maybe not in the best of shape.
He promises to take what is his by sheer force, and suddenly it's boss time. Our walk up from Elfeim didn't drain our resources much, so fingers crossed this should be all manageable. I take the manual controls and we try and lay down some damage - Rukus, Kaili and Clair starting with physical attacks and Glitz laying down some Fire.
