Gaia
We enter the town of Gaia. According to the first local we meet "Outsiders often call our town the Eye of the Hawk". He goes on to explain that to the south is an ancient city known as the Wing of the Hawk. I think that might be Lufenia he's referring to. Looking at the map with our new Hawk-based context, it tracks.
Someone else mentions that they can't understand a word of what people say there, so we're definitely tracking here. There's also another dancing girl here, so we'll see if she has any sagely advice. Turns out she's just flummoxed that we managed to get here though.
There's also a broom on the loose nearby which makes me think this is going to be quite a magic-y town. The Magic Stores have Level 7 spells, so I pick up Blizzaga for Glitz at a cost of 30,000 gil. Clair can't learn the white spells available yet though. Guess it isn't a level thing at least, given Glitz is our least-levelled guy.
We can pick up a couple more Ruby Armlets here for 40,000 gil so that Kaili and Clair are a bit more protected. Weapons-wise they just have Cat Claws - a knife that doesn't appear suitable for any of our party.
We also learn that there used to be a faerie round town, but a pirate-looking guy outside the church in the north says he captured her and sold her to the caravan. What a charmer. This might be an issue though, because another town member says a special water named oxyale gushes from the bottom of their spring, but only faeries can draw it out.
Sounds like we might have to find a faerie in our near future.
To summarise other bits:
- The tower in the desert is a mirage
- There's a witch in charge of the broom, but it's lazy
- Someone saw a light fly off to the west.
I think that last one warrants some investigation. I start by spotting an archipelago with a load of holes in the ground, which I assume are caves. I take the nearest one and land next to it, ready to explore.
