Back into the Cave
Heading back into the cave and going the other way, we find a ladder rather than stairs down into another part of B2. The ladder feels like it should be the less traveled way, so I'm worried now that I missed something the first time. Given that it's opened out into a larger room though, fingers crossed we're good.
As I'm navigating the room, I spot a set of stairs down, and before I head down to what I assume is B3, I go loot-goblin-ing up all the areas of this level, and in the process, the party make it to Level 14. In the process I'm a bit annoyed that I'm only picking up weapons that I'd already bought. I guess my RPG sense were hoping you'd find new or unique weapons in the area, rather than thinking I could have held off buying Glitz his dagger.
Who am I kidding? He needed that dagger.
I head downstairs and it feels like this is the first 'proper' dungeon we've been to, just on scale alone. The Chaos Shrine was hilariously potentially short, so this is both a breath of fresh air and a bit of a slog at the same time. The quality of life improvements of auto-battle are proving a god-send.
So many little rooms in here, and I want to check them all, which isn't helping the slog part of the whole thing. Ominously we pick up our first Phoenix Down here too. I'm desperate to keep them all alive for at least a single sitting, but now the game is offering to help out, I'm worried. No sooner do I type that, Kaili gets hit by a Scorpion for 55 damage, gets poisoned, then hit by another one and drops...
Kaili - 2 : Glitz - 1
I decide to use the Phoenix Down, rather than bail all the way back to town again. Apparently Scorpions are the top of the food chain down here though, because another batch of them almost take out another couple of the party. The combination of hitting for 50+ damage and poison is not a fun one. Only Rukus can vaguely absorb the damage, reducing it to the mid-teens.
